Uline is a very large supplier of boxes and packaging materials. Chances are that if you received a mail order item, the box will say Uline on the bottom. We use Uline for all of our shipping supplies. Generally, I’m very happy with them.
Recently, we received a batch of boxes that weren’t put together as well as usual. No big deal, they still worked, but I decided to write an email informing them of the lower quality. The response was prompt and this was the content:
Thank you for your comment regarding the quality of our boxes. Uline continues to use the same vendors for boxes that we have always used and all of our boxes are 200 lb. test.
You may notice some differences in the thickness of the boxes due to:
Type of Cutter: Our boxes come from multiple plants. The thickness varies by plant due to different equipment used in the manufacturing process.
Variance: All 200 lb. test boxes have a dimensional variance of +/- .125″.
Regardless of the factors stated above, the boxes you received are made from 200 lb. test corrugated material and are of the same quality as previous orders.
Uline strives to uphold the product quality that our customers have come to expect and apologize that the boxes you have received do not meet the standard you have come to expect from us.
I felt that this response was lacking because there was no acknowledgement that maybe something is wrong and no promise of follow up to investigate the matter. I just wanted to inform Uline of a quality problem in good faith but I did not feel that this was taken seriously.
